Butterflies is my personal favourite of the horse portraits. I enjoyed the process of setting up the composition and playing with a mixture of the watercolour pencils, polychromos colour pencils and even a touch of white acrylic paint. I love the whimsy and fantasy about a horse being surrounded by beautiful blue butterflies in the middle of an enchanted forest. What's not to love? It has always been hard to think of this piece elsewhere but I know a forever home is out there and I know she'll be with someone special.
 
This original is on 297mm x 210mm, 220 gsm Fabriano paper and has been created using Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencils and Derwent watercolour pencils.
